Please post an introduction, some general info about yourself. Apart from helping us get to know each other, this should help weed out who is her for the forum, and who is here as a spammer.

This is my participation login for the forum. It allows me to generally geek out on this esoteric subject.
Parents didn't take me when it came out, so I had to wait for a rerelease around '73(?). The film's production was impeccable, and had a profound impact on my career.
I don't get to make physical models as much as I might like, but I get to do some 3D models in the computer, for fun and profit. I work for one of NASA's contractors.

Hello there. I also am interested in the orbital nukes in 2001 and would like to hear from other people their backstories and theories on them and also the platform weapon systems and capabilities too and also on other parts of the 2001 alternate universe. Comments?

Please don't nuke me! I have a strong interest in the 2001 bombs and have posted several photos of the filming models.

I want to stick around too. This place has a raft of reference info I'd like to have access to for some scratchbuilds I'm planning in the future.

Hi all,
I am just posting here to confirm I am a real person ;D
Hopefully I will have a real model to build one day. Not sure what's keeping it.

I also am on the list and have just started working on the French satellite kit. I have removed all of the minimal flashing that was present on the kit and have also filled in a relatively small area that was missed during the casting process. Pictures will be forthcoming in the WIP area.

The last time I checked I had formed the opinion that I did indeed exist and somehow qualified as "real" I am also a 2001 fan. I'm doing a scratch-build of the US bomb --Jim

I guess I should sign in here too I'm Lee as my sign in suggests, big 2001 fan, as we all are. I've built alot of miniatures, but not many in the past few years, everything is in the computer these days. But that said nothing beats the real thing and I'm eager to get back to building again. On a side note I'm looking for new/detailed reference for the Space Station. I think I have just about everything that's obvious from the web/dvd/books. Lee www.LeeStringer.com

Hi fellow 2001 fans! My name is Mike and I have been a fan of 2001 since I first saw it during it's initial release in the theater. I am pretty much collecting most models that are 2001 related, and I have the US and French bomb on my to do list. Hope to eventually contribute something to this group!
Have fun modeling!
Mike

Hello to all, I seen 2001 when I was in the 7th grade as a field tripe went to a Catholic grade school and one of the Nuns was into sci-fi and took the whole class. Guess the only good thing that I can remember about grammar school, since I seen the movie I was hooked on it. Can not tell how many times I tried to build the DISCOVERY or something close to it, by putting several APOLLO SATURN FIVE kits together…….hey I guess I was ahead of myself back ……….kit bashing!!!!! Well thanks for having me aboard and real exited about all of these satellites kits coming out, just got Mad-Dogs and looking forward to more!

This my first post in this forum. Some of you may recognize me from the Atomic City forum.
I have been a big fan of 2001 ever since I first saw the movie in '68 and have built several models from it including the original Moon Bus ,Orion Shuttle and kits from Atomic City. I also had the chance to meet and talk with Gary Lockwood about the movie several years ago at DragonCon.
I also recently achieved the dream of a lifetime to scratch-build an accurate scale model of the spaceship Discovery which I then gave to Timeslip Creations to cast and sell as a kit.
I don't have any satellite kits yet but I plan of building them.

Just wanted to let you know I'm a real person and not spam. I think I registered before and perhaps got cleaned out. Love the forum, working on my French and American kits now.

I just joined the site tonight, following a link from Modelman. I first saw 2001 when it was re-release in 1972 at the age of 8. I have always liked the Spacecraft from the movie, particularly the Aries 1-B. I look forward to a future build of Atomic City's 1/32 scale Aries, and hopefully thru this site and its members can build a truly wonderful replica from a piece of movie history.

I am a big fan of this movie and a big fan of the models that have been produced. I mostly like the manned spacecraft shown in the movie and would enjoy adding to the available collection of models available to buy.
