Mine arrived this morning and can't wait to get started There's a bit of clean-up but all looks pretty easy and eclipsed totally by the amount of detail on show here. Can't wait. ;D

Been a while since an update, but here you go. I've finished the Conning Tower and just nearing the end of the main body here. Build has been a bit of a breeze and the detail on the tiny parts are just amazing. I've ummed and ahhed as to just what to use for a colour scheme. Originally was going with the grey primer for the basecoat as i figured it'd be nice and darkish and menacing. But the more i looked at the supplied still, the more it bugged me that it wasn't bright enough. Of course, the brightness could just be harsh studio lighting but decided to lighten it up anyway. Briefly toyed with the slightly cream of the Orion but in the end went with darkening the primer with a black wash, then an overspray of the primer again, then another overspray with white. And now i'm halfway through pastelling. Only half done as i'm using the lower sections as a grip while i do it.

Hello Mangamax, the color of the German Sat. was a question during the painting progress. I didn't wanted it grey because the movie still shows it more white. I agree wih you on the studios lightning, so I choosed to stay between the two tones. That gaves it an indefinite color to play with : slight grey when you hold the model, and white on the photographies. I used acrylic paints and powders to go gently with the weathering (see the final result by the link below) : odec.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=mastergallery&action=display&thread=87Nice work however !
