Here it is. I don't know when I will be getting to it, but it is immediately on hold while I sort some stuff out and start the model pipeiline up again. All the parts. Almost a fez cap as suggested elsewhere... Nice details all around. Thumbnail flash where there is any at all. My biggest concern. I haven't seen the directions yet, so this may be entirely hidden by another part. More over at the mysite. www.twinlitworlds.com/modelwerx/index.htmlClick Kits / Kit 77 and 78

As I come upon the completion of the US and FR bombs, my sights will turn on this one. And it may actually come up immediately as it will use the same colors as the other two bombs. In fact, I'm gonna go and check this kit over now. I haven't washed it yet or anything.

Nope. This is not a kit that can be jumped into at all. I see several challenges on this one.
: Getting the styrene rods to line up straight along the outer fins and trimming if needed.
: Painting masks on all sub-assemblies prior to final assembly of all finished parts.
: Replacing the antenna rod with brass. A necessity!
: I may also pin the two main body halves for extra security.
: Aligning the engine bells flat to each other and the body.
: Hanging mounts.
: Cohesion Durability.

Got a replacement for the rear fan-tube-thing from Adam this morning. The new cast looks great. More flash (paper thin) than the first one, but no horrid bubbles and pits, so a big improvement. Looking at the piece the other week, it was clear that I would have to putty areas that would be exceptionally difficult to hit and make look good.
Thanks Adam!!!

I look forward to seeing the construction of it!!! EVA- Man and myself are going to replace that resin rod with a brass rod too. After Wonderfest, the built Demo-model I brought has the front end sagging. I looked real unhappy!

I look forward to seeing you guys put some builds up here. The site could use some variety. I'd like to see how you guys tackle the drilling and replacing. If my current pipeline schedule goes the way I think it will, maybe the German satellite will be released just in time for me to do both simultaneously? That would be a nice coincidence as the first two of the four were built together and the second two of the four could be built together. Adam -are you ruminating the un-filmed satellites as kits after the space station? Maybe that would be too select a market, but possibly worth a limited run??? I'm in for two each.

Yes, I am planning on doing the others!

It begins!
This vid covers unboxing and review of the parts and the basic assembly strategy. Noting what I wrote above, I think this could be done for the new year. That should prompt me to finish off the American satellite while I'm at it. I hope.
More entries to come!

It continues:
Covers the dark gray base coat now to be followed by light gray trim for the two tone paint scheme.
Next up will be slipping some brass into the mix. It's dremel time!

I had several other kits pop up on me, shoving all else aside around XMas. I'm now just getting back to this one and want to wrap it up fast. I got the brass tube all done, now no choice but to go to mask and paint. Brass and Review 2 minwww.youtube.com/watch?v=IBbFg5CJCu8

Here's two more updates for y'all. Pt4 Mostly TherePt5 So Freakin' CloseI had two setbacks as I reached the finish line. 1. The engine bells are about 5° off plane. 2. The dark gray I used is too dark and needs to be repainted before final assembly. #2 is easy. #1 requires me to pop the bells off, fill the old set-dimples and drill new ones in -which will require some precise alignment skills on my part. PS. Check it out! Youtube is embeddable now!!! Cooooolllll! (too bad about the side ad bar though )

Very nice job Tom. Inspires me to get off my butt and start my satellite as I've been kinda slackin'. I will posting photos in my Flickr account as the model progresses. Like you I went out and purchased a small brass rod to replace the existing one. Once again, and to quote Prof. Cavor, "Absolutely imperial"!

Thanks TG. So, I got this kit around 6/10, started on or about 12/20 and finished 2/23 of the following year. In that eight (or two) months, I probably spent about 10hrs on it. 20hrs on the utter outside. So it wasn't a lot of time, but I dragged my feet the whole way. Replacing that rod is a necessity. Adam realized it will droop badly while he was showing it off at WF last year. I think he said he was shipping brass now with all the new ones, but I am not sure of that.

I am going to super-detail the fins with some grooved balsa wood. I thought I was done until I saw the other fine builds in the gallery and realized I needed to check the hi-rez reference again. Wow. I missed a LOT.
