Looks like we got hit today with 3 posts from a guest named 'sfe'.

EDIT: As more attacks have now occurred with the same posts, this is no accident.

All further spammers will be eliminated and blocked once tracked down.

If anyone sees a post that could be spam, please do NOT click on any links in it and report it to Clavius, Lunadude or myself.

IP is banned.

Let's see how this goes.

We nuked the last site from orbit and the aliens are still back.

We may have to disallow guests from posting. A regrettable situation.

3rd time we've been hit.

Same 3 posts containing what is likely the same exact thousands of lines of garbage links.

Our assailant posted as 3 different guests over 10 mins under the same IP address. The posts are now deleted and the IP blocked.

His IP is not fixed. Blocking it will cause him to at least reboot before posting again. But other than that if jerkoff continues to assault us the next step is to try a no guest post policy. This would be regrettable in my mind as having guests stop by and help us with a tip is a convenience.

First attack occurred under Bomb 1.
2nd time under Bomb 2.
This 3rd time under the Site Log from 2:12am thru 2:29am my time.

Our spammer is hitting us from China. Some basic searching also turned up posts from this guy on other proboard forums. He's hitting piles of boards. I made the mistake of following one particular link to a site whose sole purpose is collecting IP addresses. Hopefully I have not compromised my system...

Research into the proboard forum indicates that the only way to stop spammers is to wait them out until they get bored or to go to member only posting with registration safeguards...

I've deleted/banned four or five spam posts, in the last week. I shudder at the memories of our spam plague, from the last forum.

We should not have to do this. SmashMonkey needs a rest.

Since we are getting spamming from "guests", lets flip the switch on "members only posting". This should solve the issue.
