Well, I started to work on AJA models' Chinese Satellite kit. I replaced the "laser" with a brass tube. And plan to use plastic rod for the cooling fin tops. Other than that everything is going together rather nicely. George

How far back (deep), does the "laser" tube go?
Was it just a strait swap of plastic for Copper, or were some mods required?

Moved this from the Kits section and put 'George in the thread title.

Can't wait to see some more angles and closeups!
How did you go about 'removing' the laser and replacing with brass, George? If memory serves, there is a doodad at one end of the 'cannon'. Slice sand and drill/gouge?
Cheers!

I removed the resin rod from the small cone piece. Drilled a hole all the way through it. Closed the hole in the dome piece. Drilled a new hole in the dome piece. I drilled about a 1/4" into the body than put it all together. I still need to staighten a few of the colling vanes and putty. I am building this as the putty dryes on one of my big builds. This is a very enjoyable build. A great distraction from my Randy Cooper's Radiant kit. George
